Our next FREE webinar is at 10am on Saturday 28th March 2026
As the clocks go forward on 29 March, spring marks the start of motorcyclists’ riding season and more bikers are back on Gloucestershire’s rural roads. While the warmer weather is welcome, it is also a time when drivers need to readjust to sharing the road with more vulnerable road users.
In Gloucestershire, nearly 1 in 5 people killed or seriously injured on our roads are motorcyclists or their passengers, even though motorcycles account for only around 3% of registered vehicles nationally.
Many collisions happen not because drivers are careless, but because motorcycles can be harder to spot and judge in traffic.
Small changes in awareness and observation can make a life-saving difference.
What you’ll learn.
This practical webinar will help mature drivers understand how to share the road more safely with motorcyclists.
We’ll cover:
- Why spring brings increased risks for motorcyclists
- Why motorcycles can be difficult to see in traffic
- How drivers can better anticipate riders on rural roads
- Simple habits that can reduce the risk of serious collisions
Guest presenter
We are delighted to welcome back Simon Ross MBE (“Rossy”).
Rossy is a retired traffic police officer who spent most of his career policing Gloucestershire’s roads. During that time, he attended and investigated many serious road collisions and understands first-hand the factors that lead to them.
He is now a RoSPA and IAM Examiner and delivers BikeSafe and Biker Down! training across Gloucestershire, helping both riders and drivers improve road safety.
